The making of a good disney villain.

What do you all look for in a villain? Do you rate them on complexity or sheer evilness?

I’ve always held Malificent as the best villain because (prior to the live action film) she seemed like evil personified. Her only motivation is revenge for not being invited to aurora’s christening. She has no redeeming qualities and is purely villainous.

But I know fans love Frollo because of his complex character etc.

Does a good villain need that complexity or can they still be enjoyed simply for being evil.
