A very merry refurbishment to you! Two of the Magic Kingdom’s attractions will be closing down soon for upkeep. They are the Mad Tea Party in Fantasyland and the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse in Adventureland.
The Mad Tea Party will be the first to close, with the refurbishment lasting from February 22nd to March 4th. This means that it will reopen on the following day, March 5th. So if you’re planning on visiting the Magic Kingdom between those dates, it looks like you’ll have to find some other way to get dizzy!
The Mad Tea Party is inspired by Walt Disney’s 1955 classic, Alice in Wonderland. The ride features giant pastel cups, reminiscent of those the Mad Hatter uses, that spin guests around. It is notorious for being a “love it” or “hate it” ride and it has left many families divided. It’s a staple though, and this writer believes no trip to Walt Disney World is complete without it.
Now the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse is an often overlooked gem in the Magic Kingdom. Based on a 1960 Disney live-action film, the treehouse is a reproduction of the home built by a shipwrecked family on a desert island. It has the best views in the park and can be a great way for children to stretch their legs and imaginations. This experience will close on March 12th through March 25. This means it will reopen on March 26th, 2021. We can’t wait to see the newly beautified version!
