Recently we shared the news of how Disney was going to be shifting from brick and motar stores to more online sales, which meant many Disney Stores in the US would be closing.
You can read more about that here.
“While consumer behavior has shifted toward online shopping, the global pandemic has changed what consumers expect from a retailer,” said Stephanie Young, president, Consumer Products Games and Publishing.
“Over the past few years, we’ve been focused on meeting consumers where they are already spending their time, such as the expansion of Disney store shop-in-shops around the world. We now plan to create a more flexible, interconnected e-commerce experience that gives consumers easy access to unique, high-quality products across all our franchises.”

Disney will remain flexible in its approach and continue to evolve its retail strategy to best meet the needs of consumers when and where they want. Guests will continue to have access to Disney shopping experiences in 600+ Disney Parks stores, shop-in-shops, lifestyle and outlet locations, as well as third-party retailers around the world.

We were able to track down a partial list of Disney Store closures here in the US. While not quite at the magic number of 60 we expect more to be added to the list soon.

As you can see a majority of closing are in California and Texas. I lucked out here in North Carolina as both the Disney Stores in Charlotte and Raleigh will remain open for now.
Please remember you can still find your favorite Disney Items on Shop Disney, however, we will miss having a piece of the Disney Magic close to home.
