The Kenny family returned to their home in Horry County, South Carolina from a magical Disney World vacation to a scene that was far less than magical. Neighborhood kids broke into and vandalized their home while they were away causing $40,000 worth of damage according to WBTW.
“They urinated on my computer to the point where they fried the inside and it started smoking,” said homeowner Brian Kenny. “We got a brand new hot tub this summer that was one of our big purchases that they destroyed with a shovel.”
TVs were shattered, computers smashed, soda and glitter were dumped on the couch, holes were in the walls, and broken glass was everywhere. The Kenny’s received a phone call telling them that neighborhood children had broken into and vandalized the house. “We didn’t think it would be as bad as it actually was,” Brian said.
The Horry County Police Department says the two children responsible for the damage cannot be charged because of their ages. We aren’t sure how old the children are. The children told the police they were playing outside and went into the house through a window to get a drink. The police report says the vandalism was intentional.
Sadly, the Kenny’s homeowner’s insurance will not cover much of the damage done. Their policy only covers the structure of the home and not the property inside. If you’d like to help, neighbors have set up a GoFundMe for the Kenny’s. You can donate here.
