The Walt Disney World theme parks reopened last July without much in the way of entertainment. Disney has had to take a different approach to entertainment and take into account physical distancing and other health and safety measures. Now, Disney has announced that more entertainment options will reopen this summer!
Currently, the only entertainment at the parks is through character cavalcades and flotillas. This summer, however, a modified version of “Festival of the Lion King” will be presented at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
“We are thrilled to be starting the process of bringing back to work more singers, dancers, technicians and other cast members, from one of the most popular shows at Walt Disney World Resort.”
The Harambe Theatre at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park will host that fan-favorite troupe of musical storytellers, along with Simba and his friends, in a celebration of the incomparable “Festival of the Lion King.”
When it returns it will be presented in a modified format to be mindful of the current environment. There will be adjustments to the show on stage and backstage, including updates to choreography to allow for appropriate physical distancing. Audience seating will also be adjusted in line with other theater-based experiences at Disney World.
Could this mean that more theater entertainment will be returning to Walt Disney World soon? We would love to be able to experience Finding Nemo – the Musical, Fantasmic!, and the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular again!
